In addition to a national Board and 11 Area Boards, the FMB has 12 committees that help to shape the FMB’s activities and inform campaigns to change policy.

Operational committees

TBC. The operational committees include:

Standards Committee

The FMB Standards Committee is tasked with upholding the FMB’s high standards of membership. The committee is comprised of member companies as well as independent representatives, who investigate complaints against FMB members, which have failed to be solved by mediation. The committee also regularly reviews the FM’'s Code of Conduct, which all members agree to adhere to when joining. To find out more about the role of the committee, please email XXX.

Policy groups

The role of the FMB policy groups is to advise FMB staff on the challenges that small and medium-sized builders face and to help propose and develop solutions to overcoming them. The FMB policy groups include:

Home Builders Group

The Home Builders Group is comprised of members who build new homes. The group meets quarterly and works to change regulations and legislation to create a more favourable climate for small housebuilders. To enquire about joining the Group, please email PublicAffairs@fmb.org.uk.

Training Group

The FMB Training Group is comprised of members who are passionate about training the next generation to tradespeople to a high standard. The Group makes recommendations on how to improve the quality of training, how to increase the number of construction firms offering apprenticeships, and how to attract new entrants into the industry. Civil servants from the Department for Education and the Construction Industry Training Board also contribute to this Group. To enquire about joining the Group, please email PublicAffairs@fmb.org.uk.

Technical Policy Group

The Technical Policy Group was formed in 2019 to help shape the FMB’s response to expected consultations relating to building regulations. Members must have good knowledge of building regulations or experience with high quality energy efficiency projects either in new build or retrofit. Members will interact over email and phone only. To enquire about joining the Group, please email PublicAffairs@fmb.org.uk.

Building and Allied Trades Joint Industrial Council
