The Federation of Master Builders (FMB) is the UK’s largest trade association for the construction industry. We have a proud history of supporting and promoting small and medium-sized building contractors – from sole traders to larger firms – across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, since we were established in 1941.
We are champions of quality construction work and we advocate for continuous improvement in building standards. Our members must pass a strict vetting process and independent inspection of their work, to ensure they meet the high standards expected of a Master Builder – and not all builders pass the test.
We provide a wide range of business support services to help Master Builders to promote, protect and grow their business; we connect clients with professional, local builders they can trust; and we build better as an industry through collaboration with Government and industry partners.
We are a not-for-profit organisation run by members for members, which means membership fees are re-invested into supporting and promoting Master Builders.
